Pixar's Hoppers: A Sci-Fi Comedy Taking the Box Office by Storm!
Hoppers: A Box Office Sensation
Since its debut on March 6, Pixar's latest animated film, Hoppers, has enchanted audiences for almost two months. This sci-fi comedy has received praise from both critics and fans, achieving an impressive 94% score from critics and a 93% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Such a warm reception has translated into remarkable box office success, with a global total of $371.4 million, positioning it as the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2026 so far, as reported by Box Office Mojo.
Upon its release in the domestic market, Hoppers opened with $45.3 million and recently added $0.7 million during the weekend of May 1-3, marking a 62.6% decline from the previous weekend. As the film continues its theatrical run and becomes accessible on various digital platforms in the U.S., the weekend box office declines have become more noticeable. Currently, Hoppers has amassed a total of $165.4 million domestically.
In its journey, Hoppers has secured a spot among the top 400 highest-grossing films in domestic box office history. It is now nearly matching the North American earnings of the 2019 mystery film featuring Daniel Craig, which also grossed $165.4 million. Furthermore, Hoppers is approaching the iconic comedy Meet the Parents, which has set a high standard for domestic earnings.
According to data from Box Office Mojo, while Hoppers has surpassed Meet the Parents in global earnings, it still trails slightly in domestic totals. Currently, Hoppers needs to earn at least $0.8 million domestically to exceed the North American total of the Ben Stiller-led comedy. If it maintains consistent performance during weekdays and weekends in the upcoming weeks, it has a realistic chance of reaching this goal.
Directed by Daniel Chong, Hoppers tells the story of Mabel, an animal enthusiast who employs cutting-edge technology to transfer human consciousness into lifelike robotic creatures. After she hops into a robotic beaver to communicate with wildlife, Mabel discovers a threat to their forest habitat and must unite the animals to safeguard their home.
