Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 Shatters Records with Historic Opening in Telugu Market
Drishyam 3's Box Office Triumph
Mohanlal's eagerly awaited film, Drishyam 3, has made a significant splash at the box office, reflecting its pre-release excitement with a powerful debut both domestically and abroad. The Telugu-dubbed version of the movie has achieved a groundbreaking start in India, highlighting Mohanlal's strong presence in the Telugu-speaking audience. The film has notably outperformed L2: Empuraan, taking the lead by a substantial margin, which emphasizes the actor's expanding fan base in this region.
Over the years, Mohanlal, affectionately referred to as Laletan, has built a loyal following among Telugu viewers. This popularity has been instrumental in the success of his earlier film, L2: Empuraan, and now, Drishyam 3 has also made a strong entrance. The franchise's well-established reputation has been pivotal in drawing audiences, with the Telugu-dubbed version showcasing more than 1,350 screenings nationwide.
On its opening day, Drishyam 3 achieved an average occupancy rate of 22% for its Telugu-dubbed version, resulting in a net collection of 1.5 crore, which equates to a gross of around 1.77 crore. This remarkable start marks a historic milestone for Mollywood, as Drishyam 3 has recorded the largest opening for a Malayalam film in the Telugu-dubbed category, surpassing L2: Empuraan and indicating the rising popularity of Malayalam cinema among Telugu audiences.
Despite the film's strong debut, early reviews have been mixed, suggesting that its growth may be limited over the extended four-day opening weekend. As viewers continue to share their thoughts, it will be interesting to see how Drishyam 3 performs in the days following the weekend.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 hit theaters on May 21 and features a stellar cast, including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, and Siddique. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, the film's box office performance is being closely observed as it unfolds.
