The 33-year-old, who played a crucial role in Argentina's victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, joins the team as they enhance their goalkeeping lineup for the upcoming season.

Martinez's Professional Journey

Martinez began his football career in the youth ranks of Independiente before moving to Arsenal in August 2010 at the age of 17. After several loan spells to gain valuable first-team experience, he became a key player for Arsenal during the 2019/20 season, starting the final 11 matches and winning the FA Cup. He also secured the Community Shield at the beginning of the next season before transferring to Aston Villa in September 2020.


At Aston Villa, Martinez solidified his reputation as one of the top goalkeepers globally, making 256 appearances over six seasons and winning the UEFA Europa League in May.


International Achievements

Martinez debuted internationally in June 2021 and has since been the first-choice goalkeeper for Argentina, earning 67 caps. He has celebrated two Copa America victories (2021 and 2024) and was part of the World Cup-winning squad in 2022. His outstanding performances earned him the Yashin Trophy, recognizing him as the best goalkeeper in the world, awarded at the 2023 and 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremonies.
