Challenges Arise for Prashanth and Director Hari's Long-Awaited Film Project
Prashanth and Hari's Film Faces Production Delays
The collaboration between actor Prashanth and director Hari, announced in April 2025, was anticipated to be a significant reunion after more than twenty years. However, the project has encountered difficulties, despite the initial excitement and completion of pre-production tasks. Reports indicate that the film has not entered the production phase as scheduled, resulting in a delay in the shooting timeline. Prashanth has allegedly requested the return of the advance payment and has escalated the issue to industry organizations.
Uncertainty Surrounds the Reunion of Hari and Prashanth
The film, which was officially revealed on April 6, 2025, coinciding with Prashanth's birthday, generated considerable buzz as it marked their second collaboration following the 2002 film Thamizh. Despite the high expectations, there have been no significant updates regarding the cast or crew beyond the lead roles. Initial reports suggested that filming was set to commence in Chennai by June, further fueling hopes that the project was on track.
According to sources, the project had successfully completed its pre-production phase, which included planning and budgeting. However, nearly a year after the announcement, the film has reportedly not progressed to the shooting stage. Recent reports indicate that Prashanth has demanded the return of the advance payment made for the film, citing a lack of progress. His team claims that the project has not advanced as agreed, raising concerns about the allocation of funds. Consequently, the matter has been brought to the attention of film industry bodies, including the Producers’ Council, for resolution. During the inquiry, director Hari reportedly stated that the advance payment was fully utilized for legitimate pre-production expenses and not misappropriated for personal use. As of now, neither Prashanth nor Hari has issued an official statement online.
Prashanth's Other Upcoming Projects
The film initially sparked significant interest due to the long-awaited reunion of Prashanth and Hari. Their previous collaboration, Thamizh, had set high expectations for their second project, which was envisioned as a family entertainer infused with action and emotional depth. Produced by Thiagarajan under the Staar Movies banner, discussions regarding the cast were ongoing, with several actors expected to join the project.
Despite the ongoing issues with this project, Prashanth remains engaged in other ventures. He is currently leading the courtroom drama Ranjan – The Advocate, directed by his father Thiagarajan. This film is a Tamil remake of the acclaimed Telugu film Court – State Vs. A Nobody and features a talented ensemble cast, including Sathyaraj in the role of a lawyer.
