New Delhi: On Saturday, prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including Vijay Varma, Vir Das, Swara Bhasker, and Varun Grover, expressed their support for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, viewing it as a triumph for students who have been actively protesting against the NEET paper leak scandal.

Pradhan stepped down earlier that day, facing increasing scrutiny over alleged misconduct in various competitive exams. In his resignation letter, he mentioned feeling 'disturbed' by recent events and submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In response to the news, Vijay Varma posted a picture of Pradhan on social media, quoting the famous song 'Channa Mereya' from 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' with the caption, 'Accha chalta hoon... duaaon mein yaad rakhna.'

Comedian and writer Varun Grover congratulated the students and activists who spearheaded the movement, stating, 'Congratulations India. The protests, initiated by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on June 20 at Jantar Mantar, were in response to allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in the examination system, including NEET. The demonstrations expanded to multiple cities, with protesters demanding Pradhan's resignation and increased accountability in education.

Tensions escalated earlier this week when police resorted to batons, tear gas, and water cannons to disperse students marching towards Parliament in New Delhi. This crackdown faced significant backlash, prompting numerous actors and filmmakers to publicly support the protesters.

Vir Das also shared a photo with the caption 'Friends' and followed it with a message praising the students: 'You restored a single word of a tiny little sentence of that book we all read in school and forgot. You beautiful kids. Whatever the hell happens from here, you won. Now hurry up and celebrate.'

Actor Abhishek Banerjee updated his social media profile picture and exclaimed, 'DP CHANGE HO GAYI!! A big congratulations to GEN-Z. Also a big reminder that United we stand, divided we fall!!'

Saba Azad expressed her support with the phrase, 'Chaatr ekta zindabad!!!' while Swara Bhasker labeled the event as a 'Huge victory for students.'

Parvathy Thiruvothu shared a screenshot of Pradhan's resignation letter, exclaiming, 'Resigned!!!!'
