In a conversation with Variety India, Mohit explained his decision to avoid reuniting Aditya and Shraddha after their successful collaboration in Aashiqui 2. He expressed that he wanted to preserve the unique magic of their first film, acknowledging that attempts to recreate that chemistry would likely fall short. Despite this, Aditya expressed interest in working with Mohit again, prompting the director to promise him an action film, which eventually became Malang. Mohit noted that while he has successfully cast actors in various roles, he felt that trying to replicate the success of Aashiqui 2 was a challenge he couldn't overcome.
