Legal Developments in the Château Miraval Dispute

Hollywood star Brad Pitt has secured a notable legal victory in his ongoing battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie concerning their French vineyard, Château Miraval. A court in California has ruled in Pitt's favor, enabling him to summon depositions from crucial figures at the Stoli Group, the firm involved in Jolie's 2021 sale of her share in the winery. The court has ordered Alexe Olenik and representatives from Tenute Delando and Newville LLC to provide testimony in London by September 30th.

Additionally, the California Court of Appeal dismissed claims from Stoli Group owner Yuri Sheffler, who contended that he played a minor role in the deal. The court remarked, "It defies credulity that Sheffler, a sophisticated businessman, would risk almost $40 million on a transaction about which he knew nothing and with which he had no involvement." Pitt's legal representatives argue that Jolie's sale breached an agreement that granted him the first right of refusal and has negatively impacted the reputation of the business he has diligently built.

A source close to Pitt characterized the ruling as a move towards transparency regarding the sale's circumstances. Conversely, Jolie's legal team minimized the ruling's importance, claiming it would not influence the case's merits. Her attorney stated that Jolie is keen to resolve the issue in court next year, allowing the family to progress.

The legal dispute over Château Miraval commenced in 2022 when Pitt accused Jolie of selling her stake without his approval. Jolie later countersued, claiming that Pitt was waging a vindictive campaign against her following their separation in 2016. Although the couple finalized their divorce in December 2024, their legal struggle over the winery continues to evolve.
