Raja Shivaji's Impressive Box Office Performance
Box Office Collection Update for 'Raja Shivaji': Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the film 'Raja Shivaji' has reached a significant milestone at the box office. Deshmukh not only directed but also stars in the lead role. This Marathi film, which narrates the story of King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has successfully crossed the ₹52 crore mark globally within just five days of its release.
Featuring Abhishek Bachchan alongside Riteish Deshmukh, 'Raja Shivaji' was launched in both Marathi and Hindi languages. The film continues to show strong performance at the box office, even outperforming the recent release starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, despite being only five days into its theatrical run.
As per reports, 'Raja Shivaji' experienced a slight dip in earnings on its fifth day, bringing in around ₹3.35 crore from approximately 851 Marathi shows. The total gross for that day was about ₹3.95 crore, marking a 20.4% decrease from Monday's earnings.
To date, 'Raja Shivaji' has amassed a net collection of ₹44 crore, with the Marathi version contributing ₹30.5 crore. Although the Hindi version has been slower in gaining traction, it is now picking up pace thanks to positive audience feedback.
The film's overall gross collection in India has reached ₹52.68 crore, placing it among the top Marathi films ever. 'Raja Shivaji' had a remarkable start, earning ₹23.90 crore in its first two days alone, with trade analysts noting it had the largest opening for a Marathi film, grossing ₹12.40 crore on Friday and ₹11.50 crore on Saturday.
Currently, 'Raja Shivaji' ranks among the top five highest-grossing Marathi films. Following its success, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve has called for the film to be declared tax-free in Maharashtra to allow more viewers to enjoy it.
Released on May 1st, the film features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Bhagyashree, and Genelia Deshmukh, along with Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amol Gupte in supporting roles.
In contrast, the box office performance of 'Ek Din', featuring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, has been steadily declining. After a strong start, the film's daily earnings have dropped significantly.
According to reports, 'Ek Din' earned ₹1.37 crore on its opening day, followed by ₹1.20 crore on the second day and ₹1.07 crore on the third. By Monday, its earnings fell to ₹23 lakh, and on Tuesday, it managed only ₹28 lakh, bringing its total collection over five days to just ₹3.51 crore.
