Weekend Box Office Highlights

The box office remains bustling this June with several Hindi films making their debut. Among the new releases are Main Vaapas Aaunga, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Governor, and Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past. These films are produced by reputable names in the industry. Surprisingly, Vikram Bhatt’s horror film has taken the lead at the box office, despite having minimal marketing and receiving unfavorable reviews. Reports indicate that Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past outperformed Main Vaapas Aaunga, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, and Governor, with the latter being the least successful.

Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past Dominates

Haunted 3D Echoes Of The Past leads box office race

As per Sacnilk, Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past launched with 1,712 screenings across India, grossing Rs 2.50 crore on its opening day. The film's strong start can be attributed to the loyal fanbase of the franchise and Vikram Bhatt's expertise in horror storytelling. Despite receiving negative reviews, the audience still flocked to theaters for a thrilling experience.

Following closely is Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina. This pre-partition love story has garnered positive reviews for its emotional depth and stellar performances. On its first day, the film earned Rs 1.15 crore from 1,044 shows nationwide.

Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata opened to mixed reviews. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film tells the inspiring tale of nurses from Cama Hospital who saved numerous lives during the 26/11 attacks. However, it had fewer screenings, earning Rs 1 crore on its opening day.

Governor's Performance at the Box Office

Governor Day 1 Collection

Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor, directed by Chinmay Mandlekar, received critical acclaim but struggled at the box office with only 629 shows. The film, based on the life of S. Venkitaramanan, earned just Rs 90 lakh on its first day, despite Bajpayee's strong performance.

Hollywood Releases Compete for Attention

In addition to Hindi films, audiences also had the option to watch Hollywood releases like Disclosure Day and Backroom, which have generated buzz in Indian markets. All films released this week will need strong word-of-mouth to maintain momentum, especially with Cocktail 2 set to release next week.
