Recent student protests in Delhi, Mumbai, and other regions have drawn significant attention from various celebrities. Prominent figures in Bollywood, including Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt, have expressed their support for those impacted by the NEET-UG paper leak incident. The protests escalated on July 20 at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where clashes reportedly occurred between police and demonstrators during the Chalo Sansad march. Footage revealed police using batons and tear gas to disperse the crowd, resulting in injuries on both sides. In light of these events, Shekhar Suman has publicly backed the protesters.

Shekhar Suman's Emotional Response to the Jantar Mantar Incident

During a recent episode of his talk show, Shekhar Suman shared his distress over the events of July 20, stating, "Before we start, I need to express my feelings about what transpired at Jantar Mantar. Witnessing innocent, unarmed students being brutally attacked was heartbreaking. The violence they faced has left me deeply shaken. I haven't slept for three days; I've only cried." He questioned the rationale behind the police's actions, emphasizing that the students were merely advocating for their rights and a better education system.

He continued, "Instead of being heard, they were met with violence. In this challenging time, I stand with every brave youth and every Indian who dares to speak against injustice." Shekhar also reflected on how young activists are often unfairly labeled as unruly or anti-national, asserting that attempts to silence them only strengthen their resolve. He initially hesitated to air his show amidst the protests but ultimately decided that it was essential to continue, affirming that "the show must go on" and pledging his support to the protesting students.

Additionally, actress Jyotika has voiced her support for the students, calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Meanwhile, Shabana Azmi, who was unable to attend the Mumbai protest due to a swine flu diagnosis, also expressed her solidarity with the cause.
