Mumbai, Oct 13: Kirit Somaiya, a BJP leader and former Member of Parliament, has reached out to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and immigration officials, requesting the issuance of a Look Out Circular (LOC) against actor Imran Khan.

Somaiya has urged that Khan be prohibited from leaving India until the investigation into his complaint and a related case by the Mumbai police is concluded.

In a letter dated October 13 addressed to Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Somaiya called for the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, to prevent Khan from traveling abroad. He also requested that the Bureau of Immigration issue an LOC against the actor and inform the police if he attempts to exit the country.

This action follows a protest held at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on October 10, where participants demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Somaiya alleged that the protest occurred without the necessary permissions and claimed that Khan was present and involved before being detained by the Mumbai Police.

According to Somaiya's letter, an FIR numbered 813 of 2026 has been filed at Gamdevi Police Station regarding the incident, with Khan named as a participant. He also mentioned that he has not yet received a copy of the FIR.

Somaiya pointed out that Khan is a US citizen and reportedly possesses an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card. He urged the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Bureau of Immigration to evaluate whether Khan's involvement in the protest warrants action under Section 7D of the Citizenship Act, 1955, and the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.

Additionally, Somaiya shared a copy of his letter on X, emphasizing his request for a Look Out Circular against Imran Khan, stating, “Requested Immigration Home Ministry to issue a LOC (look out circular) against #ImranKhan to NOT to leave India.”

He has also asked the Bureau of Immigration to notify Gamdevi Police Station if Khan attempts to leave the country and requested a written update from the relevant authorities regarding the actions taken in response to his appeal.

Actor Imran Khan was detained by Mumbai Police on October 10 while participating in a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
