Mumbai, July 30: Actress Bhumi Pednekar has come under fire on social media after posting a video of herself praying at a Shivling during the sacred month of Sawan.
While her post aimed to showcase her spiritual devotion, numerous users criticized her for wearing sunglasses during the ritual. Many questioned her decision to don shades while performing the puja. On Instagram, Bhumi shared images and clips of herself dressed in a black top and blue jeans, accessorized with black sunglasses. In the video, she was seen offering water to the Shivling.
In the comments, one user remarked, “Koi zaroorat hai aise chashma laga ke puja karne ki???? Hadd hai.” (Is there any need to perform puja wearing such sunglasses? This is too much.)
Another user commented, “Photo shoot more than worshipping Mahadev - please don’t post such things.” A third user added, “Mandir m bhagwan k bhakti krre h ki photoshoot.”
One more user noted, “They can find Fashion and style even in Puja .. Warna Aam naagrik lagne lagegi puja karte hue.”
Another comment read, “Chasma to utar leti madam ji.” (At least you could have removed your sunglasses, ma’am.)
In her post, Bhumi captioned, “As Sawan begins, I pray not for an easier life, but for the strength to walk it with grace. Har Har Mahadev.”
On the professional front, Bhumi is set to appear in the historical drama “The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” where she will take on the role of the brave warrior queen Belawadi Mallamma. The film is directed and produced by Sandeep Singh and is planned as a two-part historical epic.
