Controversy Surrounds Badshah's Latest Song

Rapper Badshah is under fire for the inappropriate lyrics featured in his new track Tateeree. Critics have accused him of sexualizing young girls with his words. The Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has condemned Badshah's actions and summoned him for questioning. Additionally, an FIR has been lodged against him in Haryana.

Earlier today, Renu Bhatia, Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, expressed her disapproval of the singer, stating that he would not be permitted to perform until he appears before the commission and takes responsibility for his actions. She emphasized that someone who disrespects women cannot be referred to as a 'Badshah.'

Chairperson Issues Strong Warning

In an interview, Bhatia remarked, "What Badshah has done is unacceptable. Insulting the daughters of Haryana with such language is intolerable. We have summoned him for March 13, and he must attend." She further warned that if he continues to evade accountability, he will not be allowed to perform in Haryana. Bhatia urged others in the industry to refrain from hiring him until he satisfactorily explains his choice of words.

She criticized his previous statement as unconvincing and questioned the meaning behind the lyrics of his controversial song, suggesting they degrade women.

Bhatia also highlighted that artists have a responsibility to use their talents wisely and should focus on delivering positive messages that resonate with today's youth. She encouraged singers to celebrate women rather than demean them, stating that there are countless uplifting themes to explore in music.

Badshah Responds with Apology

In response to the backlash, Badshah issued a video apology on Saturday, announcing the removal of Tateeree from all platforms. He stated, "The feelings of the public are paramount," acknowledging the criticism he faced. This follows the Haryana Police's filing of an FIR at the cybercrime station in Panchkula under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, and the Indian Penal Code's provisions regarding obscene acts.
