A Tribute to Asha Bhosle

Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar formed a remarkable musical duo from the 1950s until Kishore's passing in 1987. Their collaboration resulted in approximately 687 Hindi duets, marking one of the most successful partnerships in the realm of Indian cinema. It is no wonder that Asha maintained a close bond with Kishore's family, particularly with his son, Amit Kumar. Today, Amit took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his grief over Asha's demise, highlighting the deep connection they shared.

On X, Amit Kumar revealed that Asha Bhosle was a source of support for him after his father's sudden death, stating, "After my father, the person who taught me how to perform behind a microphone is gone forever." He reminisced about their first duet together, which was from the film Zindagi Aur Toofan, recorded in 1974.

Amit concluded his heartfelt message with, "Asha ji, your mentorship and presence were invaluable to me. Om Shaanti. Until we meet again." He also shared several images with Asha, including one of their duet performance and another featuring her with his late father, Kishore Kumar.

For those who may not know, Asha and Kishore's first duet was 'Main Bengali Chokra' from the 1950 film Raagini, while their final collaboration was 'Guru Guru' from the 1988 film Waqt Ki Awaz. Additionally, Asha and Amit worked together on numerous popular Bollywood and Bengali duets during the late 1970s and 1980s, including hits like 'Yun Toh Haseen Hazar' (1981), 'Dushman Na Kare' (1985), and 'Roz Roz Ankhon' (1986).

Currently, Asha Bhosle's last rites are taking place in Mumbai, where numerous celebrities have come to pay their respects. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali were seen at Asha's residence, as well as actor Riteish Deshmukh. Actor Tabu appeared visibly emotional while honoring the legendary singer, and music maestro AR Rahman was also present to pay his final tributes.

Asha Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening due to severe exhaustion and a chest infection. She passed away on Sunday, April 12, with her son Anand Bhosle confirming the news to the media.
