Mumbai: The renowned playback singer Asha Bhosle has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai following a cardiac arrest she experienced on Saturday. The 92-year-old artist is currently receiving care in the Emergency Medical Services unit.


Dr. Pratit Samdani from Breach Candy Hospital released a statement confirming, "Asha Bhosle, the legendary playback singer, suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday, April 10, and is now being treated at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai."


Asha Bhosle, one of the most celebrated singers in Indian music history, began her playback career with the 1943 Marathi play "Majha Bal". She made her Bollywood debut with the song "Sawan Aya" from the 1948 film "Chunariya".


Her extensive repertoire includes iconic tracks like "Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko", "Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani", "Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji", "O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan", and "Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana".


In addition to Hindi, she has performed in approximately 20 languages, both Indian and international.


In 2006, Asha revealed that she has recorded nearly 12,000 songs throughout her illustrious career.


Over the decades, she collaborated with numerous esteemed music composers, including Shankar-Jaikishan, Sachin Dev Burman, RD Burman, OP Nayyar, Ilaiyaraaja, Bappi Lahiri, and AR Rahman.


Her contributions to music have earned her multiple accolades, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.


She has also received seven Filmfare Awards, primarily for 'Best Female Playback Singer', along with a Lifetime Achievement Award.


Beyond her singing career, Asha Bhosle ventured into acting, appearing in the Marathi film "Mai" in 2013.
