Chennai, Aug 10: A.R. Ameen, the son of the acclaimed music composer A.R. Rahman, sustained minor injuries following a car accident involving a luxury vehicle and a taxi near Olympia Tech Park in Chennai during the early hours of Monday.

As reported by local authorities, the incident took place around 3:30 a.m. while Ameen and a companion were heading towards Guindy on Jawaharlal Nehru Road.

While approaching the Olympia Tech Park area, a taxi allegedly merged onto the main road from a side street, leading to a collision. Both Ameen and his friend suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

They were promptly transported to a private hospital for medical evaluation and treatment, after which they were discharged and returned home. Authorities confirmed that their injuries were not severe.

Additionally, a passenger in the taxi also incurred injuries and was taken to the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital for care. This individual was later discharged following treatment.

Fortunately, there were no reports of life-threatening injuries among those involved in the accident, although both vehicles sustained damage from the impact.

The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) has initiated an inquiry into the accident's circumstances. Investigators are looking into how the taxi entered Jawaharlal Nehru Road and whether either vehicle was exceeding speed limits at the time of the crash.

CCTV footage from cameras in the vicinity will also be reviewed to piece together the events leading up to the collision.

Statements from the drivers and passengers of both vehicles will be included in the investigation. The accident occurred during a time of relatively light traffic on this major thoroughfare.
