Anya Taylor-Joy Returns in 'Lucky'


Following her acclaimed role in Queen's Gambit in 2020, Anya Taylor-Joy is set to star in the limited series Lucky. In this new thriller, she portrays a con artist on a desperate quest to locate her missing husband while dodging the FBI and her mother-in-law. As she embarks on a perilous journey, the question remains: how far will she go? Adapted from Marissa Stapley's novel, Lucky is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV on July 15, 2026. Anya, a Golden Globe winner, also serves as an executive producer through her production company, LadyKiller. The series is crafted by Jonathan Tropper. Trailer for 'Lucky' Features Anya Taylor-Joy in Action


Apple TV introduced the trailer for Lucky with the tagline, "Wish her luck." The series features Drew Starkey as Cary Armstrong, Lucky's husband. The nearly two-minute trailer begins with Lucky's father, portrayed by Timothy Olyphant, offering her some crucial advice. A weary Lucky expresses her desire to simply survive. Raised in a life of crime, she appears exhausted from her constant flight.



The trailer reveals a high-stakes heist gone awry, with a disoriented Lucky waking up to discover Cary is missing. As she goes on the run, her mother-in-law, played by Annette Bening, tracks her down, demanding answers about her son and her money. To complicate matters, the FBI is also pursuing her. Filming took place in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

The cast also includes Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner. The inaugural episode is directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, who is also an executive producer alongside Tropper, Taylor-Joy, Reese Witherspoon, and Lauren Neustadter from Hello Sunshine. Cassie Pappas, known for her work on Apple TV's Silo, serves as co-showrunner. The first two episodes will debut on Wednesday, July 15, with subsequent episodes released weekly until August 19.



Anya Taylor-Joy's Future Projects


This year, Taylor-Joy lent her voice to Princess Peach in the animated hit The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Later in 2023, she will portray Alia Atreides, the sister of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet), in Denis Villeneuve's concluding film of the Dune trilogy. Dune: Part Three is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, featuring a star-studded cast including Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Florence Pugh.
