Mumbai, July 14: Veteran actor Anupam Kher has finally spoken out regarding the backlash over his comments about the alleged theft at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, asserting that he expressed his thoughts with “complete honesty.”

In a video shared on X late at night, Kher reaffirmed his stance on the matter, claiming that his words were misrepresented to stir controversy. He emphasized that he is not intimidated by trolls, influencers, or politicians and will continue to voice his beliefs.

In the video, he stated in Hindi: “Recently, I visited Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and shared my feelings. Some individuals took offense, believing it contradicted their agenda.

They aimed to create a narrative against me. Anupam Kher criticized this approach, questioning how they could target him. “They launched a campaign to troll and insult me,” he remarked.

“They made numerous accusations, which I found amusing. Their efforts to shape a narrative were evident. When they lacked a valid argument, they resorted to sharing a six-year-old video of Naseeruddin Shah.”

Kher referred to the old viral clip of Naseeruddin, who had previously labeled him a clown and a sycophant.

“In reality, Naseer and I have embraced each other. We hold mutual respect. They advised me to move on, but they overlooked my response to that video at the time. Then, others joined in.”

Kher expressed that he had become a national topic of discussion.

“I have risen from humble beginnings through hard work and values, thanks to divine grace. What can you use to intimidate me? I have faced my own challenges throughout my life. Why should I fear my own shadow? Keep it coming.”

“I will stand by the truth. In Ayodhya, I feel even more empowered. Every street and corner resonates with the presence of Lord Ram.”

“Here, you gain strength. You feel compelled to speak the truth. Speak the truth, and you will prevail. It took 500 years to construct Ram Mandir. Some individuals are seeking new angles. Let them continue their search. When you speak the truth, it requires no memorization; others must fabricate it. So, good luck to all.”

Kher expressed his satisfaction with the film he is currently working on, stating, “Everything is progressing well, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Ayodhya is a remarkable city, and it feels as if every street, every corner, and every home is blessing you, as so many have prayed here.”

“I felt it was important to address you all and convey that self-made individuals fear no one. They are not deterred by curses. My father used to say that if you don’t accept the curses directed at you, they return to the sender. So, enjoy it. May your curses be blessed.”

In his caption, he wrote: “People fear the truth the most when it contradicts their agenda. A few days ago, my comments regarding the theft at Ram Mandir were made with complete honesty and responsibility. I still stand by every word.”

“However, some individuals prioritize having an issue over the truth. They seek debates, controversies, and noise. That’s why my statements were distorted and presented out of context.”

“I want to emphasize that I have never been afraid, I am not afraid today, and I will never be. Whether it’s trolls, so-called influencers, or politicians, no amount of noise will alter my stance.”

“I will always express what I believe is right. Whether you agree or disagree is your prerogative. But speaking the truth is both my right and my duty. As for the rest... everyone is free to act as they wish. I will remain true to myself. Jai Shri Ram!”

Anupam’s comments regarding the alleged theft of donations related to Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir sparked significant online discussion. He referred to the reported Rs. 2-7 crore fund irregularity as a ‘minor’ issue, likening it to the destruction and looting during the Mughal era.
