Mumbai, July 31: Actor Anup Soni has shared insights about his role as the voice of Karna in the forthcoming animated series titled "The Legend of Karna."

He emphasized that Karna's battles with identity, acceptance, and fate render him a deeply relatable and intricate figure in Indian mythology, even in contemporary times.

Discussing the project, Anup expressed, "Upon learning that 'The Legend of Karna' would be narrated from Karna's viewpoint, I found the concept incredibly thrilling. Karna stands out as one of the most multifaceted characters in our mythology. While he is recognized as a formidable warrior, he was also a man grappling with profound questions about identity, acceptance, and destiny."

Recalling his first encounters with this legendary character, he remarked, "My initial memory of Karna is from the Mahabharata, and what intrigues me is that despite being a powerful warrior, his life was rife with themes of identity, acceptance, and loyalty. As I matured, I came to understand that Karna embodies not only bravery but also a spectrum of emotions and conflicts. This complexity renders him one of the most captivating figures in our mythology."

On why Karna remains relevant to audiences today, Anup noted, "To me, Karna was never merely a warrior. He was a man of great strength, profound emotions, and a deeply human journey. This is what makes him relatable even after millennia."

Reflecting on his experience voicing the character, he stated, "As an actor, having the chance to voice such an iconic character was an incredibly special opportunity. Conveying his emotions, pain, pride, and internal struggles through my voice was a remarkable creative journey."

For those unfamiliar, the voice cast also features Shahid Zafar as Duryodhana, Bajrangbali Singh as Bheema, Ashok Lokhande as Shakuni, Dishi Duggal as Kunti, Shakti Singh as Bhishma, Samay Thakkar as Drona, Sumonto Roy as Dhritarashtra, Mayur Vyas as Vidura, Paritosh Sand as Adirath, Siddharth Awasthi as Yudhishthira, and Kumud Soney as Arjuna, among others.

Created by renowned animation experts Sharad Devarajan and Jeevan J. Kang, and produced by Graphic India, this original animated series is set to debut on Sony LIV on July 31.

The series narrates Karna's evolution from being the son of a charioteer to one of the most celebrated warriors in the Mahabharata.
