Anticipation Builds for Next Chapter in the Stree Franchise
Excitement for the Upcoming Installment
Following the triumph of *Stree* and its sequel, *Stree 2*, fans are eagerly looking forward to the next chapter in this horror-comedy series. Abhishek Banerjee, who portrayed 'Jana' in the original film, shares this enthusiasm. In a recent interview with a Media Channel, he expressed, "This film definitely deserves to be made. I am optimistic that this journey will carry on."
Fresh Energy Needed for the Franchise
**The franchise needs fresh, youthful energy**
When discussing the casting for future films, Abhishek remarked, "I hope that our current team—Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and I—stays together for the next few years. However, every industry has its time. There comes a point when it's essential to make room for the new generation to emerge."
He continued, "Films like this require a certain youthful spirit. If we were to continue playing the same roles into our 50s or 60s, the audience might not enjoy it as much. Therefore, as long as we can keep the character's freshness and energy, we would love to be part of it. However, if our producers or directors feel that new energy is necessary, we must accept that decision. It's a natural progression."
Looking Forward to a 2028 Release
**'Hoping for a 2028 release'**
On the subject of the next film, Abhishek stated, "I am just as excited as the audience. I hope fans will see a new addition to the *Stree* universe by 2028. Currently, I can say that this universe is continually evolving and strengthening; the next installment, *Shakti Shalini*, is in production."
Box Office Success is Key
**'The industry doesn't take you seriously without a box-office hit'**
During the interview, Abhishek acknowledged that *Stree* has been pivotal in his career. He noted that its success altered the industry's perception of him. He stated, "I believe that 'Stree' was the most significant turning point in my career. The film's release and its box office success, grossing over ₹100 crore, marked a shift in how I was viewed. In our industry, you aren't taken seriously until your films perform well financially. While talent is important, box office results and profitability are crucial. We all know this."
Recognition Came After Stree
**Acclaim for 'Ajji', but recognition came later**
He added, "Prior to that, I starred in a film called 'Ajji'; it received praise, but very few people were aware of it. I didn't receive much work following that project. However, everything changed after *Stree*. It was that film that opened doors to numerous significant and exciting projects for me. I would say that was the pivotal moment in my career when I felt I could secure consistent work in the industry. It gave me an identity and created new opportunities for me."
