First Ray Films Embarks on a New Journey
First Ray Films, led by actor and filmmaker Anshuman Jha, is gearing up to celebrate its second decade with an exciting lineup of six films set to debut between 2026 and 2028. The company aims to blend local productions with international collaborations, positioning their films for success on festival circuits and in theaters worldwide.
For 2026, First Ray Films has announced two theatrical releases. The first, titled "Om Ka Hari," directed by Harish Vyas, is scheduled for a June 2026 premiere and boasts a stellar cast featuring Anshuman Jha, Raghubir Yadav, Soni Razdan, and Ayesha Kapur. Following this, "Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business," directed by Anshuman Jha, will hit theaters in November 2026, showcasing Jha alongside Adil Hussain and Sarah Jane Dias. The 2027 lineup includes "Bajrangi," directed by Parth Saurabh, which has already wrapped filming, and "Bhadyaa," directed by Pramod Parashar, which is currently in production.
The 2028 schedule includes "But First, The Burning," directed by Devashish Makhija, an international co-production with ROH Films and Lamas Productions, along with Rumana Molla’s "Dhoori." This strategic approach underscores First Ray Films' commitment to broadening its global reach while prioritizing quality storytelling.
Since its founding in 2016 with the release of "mona_darling," First Ray Films has built a reputation for championing distinctive narratives that push the boundaries of traditional storytelling. The company’s distribution division has played a crucial role in establishing marketing and distribution partnerships, boosting the visibility of its projects within India's independent film sector. Anshuman Jha has highlighted the significance of fostering emerging filmmakers and creating an environment that empowers them, ensuring that meaningful stories connect with their audiences while remaining authentic and culturally significant.
