Annual Dangal Mela Set for August 15, 2026, in Dalhousie

The Dangal Mela, a traditional wrestling festival organized by the Deshbhakt Sardar Ajit Singh Memorial Sabha, will take place on August 15, 2026, in Dalhousie. This year's event will feature a round-robin league format with substantial cash prizes for winners across various categories. The festivities will commence with floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, followed by a procession and the wrestling competitions, which will be inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Dhawan. For 38 years, this event has celebrated local culture and patriotism, making it a significant occasion in the community.

The annual Dangal Mela, organized by the Deshbhakt Sardar Ajit Singh Memorial Sabha at the Panchpula Samadhi site, is scheduled for August 15, 2026.


This year's wrestling events will adopt a round-robin league format, featuring enticing cash rewards and accolades for the victors:



  • Emerging Star Champion – ₹4,100 (Winner), ₹3,100 (Runner-up)

  • Dalhousie Kumar – ₹6,100 (Winner), ₹5,100 (Runner-up)

  • Dalhousie Kesari – ₹8,100 (Winner), ₹7,100 (Runner-up)

  • Dangal Shiromani 2026 – ₹12,000 cash + brass gurj (Winner), ₹10,000 cash (Runner-up)


The celebrations will kick off at 11:00 AM with Sabha officials paying floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Gandhi Chowk. This will be followed by a procession carrying the Shakti Dhwaj to Maa Bankhandi Temple for prayers. The flag will then be taken to the wrestling arena, where the competitions will start at 2:00 PM, inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Dhawan, Director of Dalhousie Hill Top School.


For the last 38 years, the Sabha has been dedicated to organizing this traditional wrestling fair, celebrating the essence of patriotism and local culture.
