Anna Faris Returns to Scary Movie Franchise

Actress Anna Faris is set to reprise her role as Cindy Campbell in the upcoming comedy film Scary Movie 6. Throughout her career, Faris has participated in numerous comedic projects, including House Bunny and the acclaimed CBS series Mom. Notably, she also appeared as Erica in the tenth and final season of Friends back in 2004. In a recent interview, she discussed her feelings about joining the main cast members—David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry—for a group hug on set, which she found to be inappropriate. Interestingly, it was Perry who had recommended her for the role after seeing her performance in a film.

In an interview with Variety, Faris recounted how, during rehearsals on the Friends set, she often stood "about two feet away from their group hug." Despite the cast encouraging her to join in, she felt it was not suitable for her to participate. Faris appeared in four episodes of the final season, portraying a pregnant woman named Erica who gives her twins to Chandler (Perry) and Monica (Cox) for adoption after they struggle to conceive. She expressed that being part of such a significant show, especially in front of a live audience, was a remarkable experience.

In a 2024 interview with People, Faris revealed that Perry had suggested her for the role after watching her in Lost in Translation. Reflecting on her time with Perry, who passed away in October 2023, and Cox, she described them as "kind" and "unbelievable." Initially, she was apprehensive about being part of the final season of Friends, but ultimately, she felt honored to be included.
