Aneet Padda has officially entered the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe with her latest project, titled Shakti Shalini. After completing her exams, the 23-year-old actress has begun preparations for her role. The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for his work on Munjya and Thamma. In Shakti Shalini, Aneet takes on the lead role alongside Viineet Kumar Siingh and Vishal Jethwa. Recent reports suggested that the actress would portray dual characters, but Aditya Sarpotdar clarified this information when contacted by a news outlet.

Clarification on Aneet Padda's Dual Role

In response to inquiries about the rumored double role, Aditya stated that the claims are inaccurate. He refrained from disclosing further details regarding the film's storyline or Aneet's character development. According to a source cited by a news portal, Aneet will portray Shakti, a guardian figure, and Shalini, a malevolent spirit targeting her family. The character of Shakti is said to evolve into an unstoppable force to confront a vengeful Bengali ghost that resides in natural elements like trees and water. Shakti's motivations are inspired by the qualities of Goddess Kali, as she battles the spirit.

Furthermore, the production team of Shakti Shalini plans to travel to Madhya Pradesh for an extensive filming schedule after wrapping up in Mumbai. Locations for the shoot include Datia, Gwalior, Morena, and other nearby areas.

Why Aneet Padda Was Chosen for the Role

In a prior interview, Amar Kaushik, the director associated with the Stree franchise, emphasized that Shakti Shalini is a pivotal installment in the horror-comedy series. He explained that following the success of Saiyaara, the team was eager to cast a fresh face. Aneet's breakthrough in Saiyaara opened new opportunities for her and the filmmakers. Amar noted that he had seen Aneet's auditions before the romantic musical's success and felt a strong connection with her during their meeting.

Announcement of Shakti Shalini

The announcement for Shakti Shalini coincided with the release of Thamma, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, which hit theaters on October 21. Initial reports indicated that Kiara Advani was set to star in the film, but she later withdrew due to her maternity leave. Shakti Shalini is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026.
