The highly anticipated fifth season of Gullak is set to debut on SonyLIV on June 5, and fans will be introduced to Anant Joshi, who will take over the character of Annu Mishra. This change comes after Vaibhav Raj Gupta's departure from the series. Anant, recognized for his performances in 12th Fail and Maamla Legal Hai, expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Mishra family and shared insights about his experience so far.

Anant Joshi Discusses His Transition into the Role

In a recent interview, Anant shared that he was approached by The Viral Fever (TVF) for this opportunity. He recounted, "An actor's life can change with just a phone call. I received a call from the TVF team, and they invited me for a meeting where they revealed the exciting news. I was overjoyed and found it hard to believe at first. My immediate reaction was, 'Are you sure?'

While Anant is set to bring his unique interpretation to Annu Mishra, he admitted that he has yet to connect with Vaibhav, the previous actor in the role. He stated, "I've always admired his work on Gullak. I used to watch the show frequently and enjoyed it immensely. Interestingly, I often thought that one day we might work together on a project. I genuinely believe that we share a physical resemblance. I wasn't prepared to take on a character that he made so iconic, but we never had the chance to discuss it."

Anant Joshi's Thoughts on Joining the Gullak Family

The actor, known for his role in Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, mentioned that he had a thorough discussion with the team before officially joining the series to ensure everyone was on the same page. Although he felt nervous, he expressed confidence in the creative team at TVF, stating, "They are very knowledgeable and assured, especially since this is the fifth season. I never doubted my ability to fit into this role."

He further praised the writers for their exceptional character development, saying, "The credit for Annu goes to the writers, who have crafted this character beautifully. Not just Annu, but all characters, including Aman, Mummy, Papa, and Bittu ki mummy, are so well-defined that good writing ensures you never lose your way. You can only enhance the character in the right direction based on the solid foundation provided by the writing." Gullak 5 will also feature Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, and Harsh Mayar reprising their roles as members of the Mishra family. Additionally, Sunita Rajwar and Helly Shah will return, while Gopal Datt joins the cast as Pinky mama this season on SonyLIV.
