A Heartfelt Tribute from Amit Kumar

The musical partnership between Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar lasted from the 1950s until Kishore's death in 1987, resulting in around 687 Hindi duets. This remarkable collaboration has forged a deep connection between Asha and Kishore's family, particularly with their son, Amit Kumar. Earlier today, Amit took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his sorrow over Asha's passing and to reflect on their special relationship.

Amit Kumar shared that Asha Bhosle played a pivotal role in his life after his father's unexpected death, stating, "After my father, the one who taught me how to deliver behind a mic is gone forever." He reminisced about their first duet together, which was recorded in 1974 for the film Zindagi Aur Toofan.

In his tribute, Amit concluded with heartfelt words, saying, "Asha ji, your guidance and presence meant so much to me. Om Shaanti. See you on the other side." He also shared several photos, including one of them performing a duet together and another featuring himself, Asha, and his late father, Kishore Kumar.

For those unfamiliar, Asha and Kishore's first duet was 'Main Bengali Chokra' from the 1950 film Raagini, while their last collaboration was 'Guru Guru' from the 1988 film Waqt Ki Awaz. Asha and Amit Kumar also worked together on numerous popular Bollywood and Bengali songs during the late 1970s and 1980s, including hits like 'Yun Toh Haseen Hazar' (1981), 'Dushman Na Kare' (1985), and 'Roz Roz Ankhon' (1986).

Currently, Asha Bhosle's last rites are being conducted in Mumbai, where many celebrities have come to pay their respects. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali were seen at Asha's residence, along with actor Riteish Deshmukh. Actor Tabu was visibly emotional during her visit, and music maestro AR Rahman also paid his final respects to the iconic singer.

Asha Bhosle had been hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital due to severe exhaustion and a chest infection. She passed away on Sunday, April 12, with her son Anand Bhosle confirming the news to the media.
