The title Raaka was unveiled in various languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, and Arabic, enhancing its appeal across India and beyond. This title has a special significance tied to Arjun’s family legacy. His uncle, the legendary Chiranjeevi, starred in a 1984 Telugu action film originally named Devanthakudu, which was later dubbed in Hindi as Raaka. Directed by SA Chandrasekhar, who is also the father of Thalapathy Vijay, the film featured Vijayashanti and was a remake of the Kannada film Geluvu Nannade. It was released on April 12, 1984, and achieved commercial success.
The connection to Thalapathy Vijay is further emphasized by Atlee’s respect for the Tamil actor, whom he often regards as a mentor. They have collaborated on successful films like Theri, Mersal, and Bigil.

About Raaka
Typically, details about major films leak ahead of their official announcements, but the team behind Raaka managed to keep everything confidential until now—no images, footage, or title hints were leaked prior to the reveal. While social media buzzed with speculation about potential titles like Wildfire, Legacy, Ayan, and Spark, the official announcement of Raaka took fans by surprise.
Raaka is set to be a large-scale science fiction film, with reports indicating a reincarnation theme where Arjun may portray multiple characters. The film aims to deliver ambitious visual effects and world-building, aspiring to compete with global blockbusters like Avatar. The project has been kept under tight wraps, with only Arjun and Atlee privy to the title before its announcement. Although there are rumors of other cast members such as Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bhagyashri Borse, only Deepika Padukone has been officially confirmed for the film, alongside Yogi Babu in a significant role. Raaka is anticipated to be one of the major releases of the upcoming year, potentially hitting theaters in summer 2027.
