On her first day at the iconic event in the French Riviera, she showcased two enchanting outfits that seemed to be inspired by a fairytale. Representing India for L’Oréal Paris, Alia's initial look featured a hand-painted ballroom gown that paid homage to the Riviera. Her second ensemble was a peach creation by Tamara Ralph, complemented by a stylish Scandinavian scarf. Just before embarking on another day at the Cannes Film Festival, the Bollywood star shared a sneak peek from her hotel room via her Instagram Story.

Embracing Vintage Fashion

Alia Bhatt redefines vintage fashion

On the third day of the Cannes Film Festival 2026, Alia celebrated the charm of vintage fashion. She donned a pastel saree-inspired gown, evoking the image of a contemporary desi Maharani. To enhance her vintage aesthetic, she carried a sun umbrella and accessorized with statement earrings and a bindi.

On the second day of the festival, Alia was present at the Bharat Pavilion, where she greeted an official with a warm namaste. The internet buzzed with reactions to her vintage Indian attire, with some drawing comparisons to the popular Netflix series, Bridgerton, while others referred to her as a 'modern Maharani.'

Alia Bhatt Discusses Gender Representation in Cinema

Alia Bhatt on male-driven cinema

In an interview with a prominent publication at the French Riviera, Alia highlighted the success of women-led films in the West, which have significantly impacted box office revenues. She praised movies like Barbie, Wuthering Heights, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 for their trendsetting roles, noting that audiences have embraced these films, leading to their success. Alia pointed out that in India, a staggering 75% of moviegoers are male, which influences filmmakers to cater primarily to this demographic. She expressed her concern, stating, “If we are only catering to men, what happens to the women?” Alia clarified that she does not advocate for excluding male viewers but desires stories that resonate with all genders. “Why must we focus on one gender? Why can't we create gender-agnostic films where storytelling is the priority?” she questioned.
