Akansha Ranjan Kapoor Shares Her Egg Freezing Journey
Akansha Ranjan Kapoor Discusses Egg Freezing Experience
Akansha Ranjan Kapoor has recently opened up about her experience of freezing her eggs, a decision she made this year. The 32-year-old actress, known for her roles in films like Guilty and Monica, O My Darling, shared that the process was quite challenging and caused her significant physical discomfort. Her close ties with Alia Bhatt and being the sister of Anushka Ranjan often keep her in the spotlight, but this time, her candidness about egg freezing is making headlines.
Akansha Ranjan's Decision to Freeze Eggs
In March 2026, Akansha decided to freeze her eggs, a choice she discussed on Soha Ali Khan's podcast, All About Her. She explained that witnessing many friends and acquaintances becoming pregnant prompted her to consider her own fertility. "Everyone was suggesting I get my AMH tested," she recalled. Being health-conscious, she is very selective about what she consumes and how she takes care of herself.
Upon testing, Akansha discovered her AMH levels were lower than expected for her age. Observing friends struggle with unexplained infertility heightened her awareness of her own situation. While she refrains from labeling it as fear, she acknowledges the necessity of taking proactive steps for her future, describing it as a form of insurance.
Physical Challenges During the Process
Akansha experienced considerable physical pain during the egg freezing process, which she believes is not common for everyone. "For 2-3 days, I couldn't stand straight or walk; it felt like there was a balloon inside me," she explained, attributing her discomfort to her smaller frame. Her sister Anushka assisted her with the injections.
After the first day, when she struggled to walk, Akansha admitted, "I did not anticipate feeling so physically unwell." She described the sensation as distinct from menstrual cramps, characterizing it as discomfort from bloating and heaviness, as if the balloon inside her might burst. Additionally, she faced hormonal imbalances during this period. Recently, Akansha portrayed Doctor Gargi in the TVF series Gram Chikitsalay available on Amazon Prime Video.
