A Special Memory with Sridevi

Eight years have passed since the release of 'Mom', yet Adarsh Gourav fondly recalls his time working with the iconic Sridevi. In a heartfelt reflection, he shares his initial encounter with her, the excitement of filming abroad for the first time, and the lasting impact of the project on his career.

Adarsh, can you share your memories of meeting Sridevi on the set of 'Mom'?

It was an unforgettable moment. On my first day, I approached her and mentioned that I could speak Telugu, which brought a warm smile to her face. Instantly, I felt comfortable.

Was the experience smooth from that point onward?

After one of my initial scenes where I passed her in a school corridor, director Ravi Udyawar praised my reaction and delivery of the line, 'Good morning M’aam.' It felt surreal, and I wished my father, a huge Sridevi admirer, could have witnessed it.

How would you describe her as an actress?

Sridevi was incredibly focused yet playful in her performances. We filmed over a year in Delhi and Bangkok, marking my first international shoot and my first experience having a hotel room to myself. I was thrilled to be part of the trailer launch, and seeing my photos in the newspapers the next day was a dream come true. 'Mom' will always hold a special place in my heart.

Were you satisfied with your character?

The role was intricately written with many layers to explore. I was eager to portray a character that was both innocent and cunning. The love I received for my performance was overwhelming, and I truly admire Ravi Udyawar as a director. I hope to work with him again soon.
