Sitaare Zameen Par: A New Chapter in Aamir Khan's Filmography


After nearly two decades, Aamir Khan has produced the sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par, which serves as a spiritual sequel to his earlier film Taare Zameen Par (2007), featuring both Khan and Darsheel Safary. The film is set to make its digital debut on SonyLIV on April 3, 2026. Directed by RS Prasanna, this Hindi film showcases Khan as a basketball coach guiding a team of young players with special needs.


Initially, when the film premiered in theaters in June 2025, Khan had mentioned that Sitaare Zameen Par would not be available on OTT platforms. However, it was later released on YouTube in a pay-per-view format.


Upcoming OTT Premiere


SonyLIV announced the film's digital release on Instagram, describing it as a touching narrative filled with hope and healing. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions, the screenplay is penned by Divy Nidhi Sharma. This spiritual sequel is an official adaptation of the Spanish film Champions (2018).



In the film, Khan portrays Gulshan Arora, a basketball coach who is sentenced to community service following a drunk-driving incident. He is tasked with training a team of neurodivergent players for an upcoming basketball tournament, leading to a transformative experience where he learns invaluable lessons from his young mentees.


The cast of Sitaare Zameen Par includes Genelia Deshmukh, Ashish Pendse, Aroush Datta, Aayush Bhansali, Rishi Shahani, Gopikrishnan K Varma, Rishabh Jain, Vedant Sharma, Simran Mangeshkar, Samvit Desai, and Naman Misra. Starting August 1, 2025, audiences could access the film on YouTube for Rs 100 in India, with similar pricing available in international markets like the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Spain.
