Aamir Khan's Perspective on Remakes

Aamir Khan On Ek Din Being A Remake

In a conversation with Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir stated, "This isn't about Junaid. It's important to note that Ghajini was also a remake. I have no objections to remakes." He referenced his previous film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which was based on a Spanish film. Aamir elaborated, "When I encounter a story that resonates with me, made in another language, I want our audience to feel that same connection. Sharing that story in a language they understand is what a remake is about. I've embraced remakes for 38 years and will continue to do so."

He acknowledged that while they remained true to the essence of Champions, some cultural adjustments were necessary for SZP to resonate with Indian viewers. These modifications reflected the behavior of the characters in a culturally relevant way.

Aamir further explained that when creatives draw inspiration from existing works, they often infuse their unique interpretations. He cited Shakespeare's plays, which continue to be adapted globally. He believes that quality stories deserve to be reimagined. Additionally, he emphasized that copyright and legal rights are distinct matters, and filmmakers should secure the necessary rights. He views adapting a story as a sign of enthusiasm for the original material.
