Pahlaj Nihalani had been battling a long-term illness related to liver complications prior to his passing. He was receiving treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, and his funeral was held the same day at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium.
Nihalani's career in film production began in 1982 with the movie Haathkadi, and he became a prominent figure in Bollywood during the 1980s and 1990s, producing hits such as Ilzaam (1986), Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), and Aankhen (1993). He was instrumental in launching the careers of stars like Govinda and Chunky Pandey. Additionally, he served as the CBFC Chairperson from January 2015 to August 2017, a tenure that generated considerable discussion.
