Political Turmoil Erupts in West Bengal Ahead of Counting Day
Political Chaos Unfolds Before Vote Counting
In West Bengal, a significant political uproar is emerging just before the counting of votes. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has released a video on its social media platform, accusing election commission officials and BJP leaders of tampering with ballot boxes stored in a strong room.
Protests Outside Netaji Indoor Stadium
TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Shashi Panja have initiated a sit-in protest outside the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Reports indicate that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to arrive shortly. Ghosh has claimed that officials from the BJP and the election commission are opening the ballot boxes without the presence of representatives from the concerned parties.
Allegations of Democratic Erosion
The TMC has shared a video on its official X page, reiterating its accusations against the election commission and BJP for opening ballot boxes without party representatives. The party stated, 'This is a blatant attack on democracy. CCTV footage reveals that the BJP, in collusion with the election commission, is opening ballot boxes without any representatives present. This constitutes a severe electoral fraud, carried out openly with the commission's full knowledge and protection.'
Bengal is Not Bihar or Maharashtra
The party further asserted, 'They have resorted to every dirty trick—removing names, intimidating voters, deploying central forces, and flooding the area with money, but they have failed miserably. Now, in utter desperation, they have resorted to tampering with the EVMs. However, Bengal is not Maharashtra, Delhi, or Bihar. We will not sit idly by while they rob our democracy.'
Public Awareness of the Situation
The TMC emphasized, 'Our leaders Shashi Panja and Kunal Ghosh have already begun their protest outside the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Mamata Banerjee will personally assess the situation. The people of Bengal are witnessing this daylight robbery. We will not allow the landlords of Delhi and their puppet election commission to steal the public mandate.'
