Incident During Voting in Asansol

On Thursday, during the voting process in Asansol, West Bengal, an attack occurred on the vehicle of Agnimitra Paul, a leader and candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A large stone was hurled at the rear of her car in the Rahmatnagar area, resulting in a shattered window and significant damage to the vehicle.


Agnimitra Paul Escapes Unharmed

At the time of the incident, Agnimitra Paul was inside her car. She reported that while she and her security personnel were unharmed, her secretary sustained minor injuries. Expressing her gratitude, she stated, 'By the grace of God, we survived, but such incidents are recurring.'


Comments on Minority Relations

Agnimitra Paul remarked, 'My car was attacked and destroyed. I was in Rahmatnagar, an area predominantly inhabited by minorities. A large stone was thrown at my car, breaking the rear and windows. Thankfully, I survived without injury, but my secretary was hurt. This should not be tolerated.'


Allegations Against TMC

She alleged that the incident might involve collusion with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), stating, 'The TMC has a good relationship with the minority community. Now that Muslim brothers and sisters are supporting the BJP, they are trying to stop us by throwing stones.'


Filing a Police Complaint

Agnimitra Paul has lodged a verbal complaint at the police station. She is striving to retain her seat in the Asansol South Assembly constituency, where she faces competition from TMC's Tapas Banerjee.
