Amit Shah Predicts BJP Victory in West Bengal Elections
BJP's Promising Future in West Bengal
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to form the government in West Bengal. He asserted that anti-incumbency sentiments are at an all-time high, a trend that was evident in the previous elections as well, where voting was not as free as it should have been.
Shah stated, 'Numerous polling booths were compromised, and many party workers were prevented from leaving their homes. This time, the voter list has been thoroughly cleaned, with fraudulent names removed. The administration, police, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have maintained strict security, and the Election Commission has ensured a fear-free environment for voters.'
Next Chief Minister to be a Local Leader
'Bengal's Next CM Will Be from BJP'
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister:
The Chief Minister of Bengal is spreading rumors that if the BJP comes to power, outsiders will govern. I want to clarify to her that the next Chief Minister will be someone born in Bengal, educated in Bengali medium, and fluent in Bengali. He will not be your nephew but a dedicated BJP worker.
Shah further noted, 'The people of West Bengal have voted with unprecedented enthusiasm for change. I want to commend the Election Commission, CAPF, and the entire system involved in the elections, including the Bengal police, for conducting a peaceful election without any fatalities for the first time in a long while.'
Significant Reduction in Election Violence
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister:
I would like to present some statistics. In the 2016 elections, 1,278 people were injured; in 2021, the number rose to 1,681; during the 2023 Panchayat elections, 664 were injured, and in the 2024 general elections, 761 were hurt. In contrast, fewer than 30 individuals were injured yesterday. This indicates that the elections were conducted peacefully, with no fatalities. The increase in voter turnout signals a desire for a BJP-led government and change.
Statements That Heightened Mamata Banerjee's Concerns
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister:
Didi is on her way out, and the BJP is on its way in. Fear will dissipate, and trust will return. The BJP is set to win more than 110 out of 152 seats, indicating that after the second phase of elections, we will form a government with a significant majority.
Shah concluded by stating, 'The people of Bengal have already determined their future in the first phase. The land of Rabindranath Tagore, the great Subhas Chandra Bose, and Khudiram Bose has chosen development. The ongoing development journey under Prime Minister Modi's leadership will include Bengal, as clearly indicated by the voters.'
