Aizawl, Oct 12: On Monday, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya M Scindia, announced the launch of development projects totaling approximately ₹350 crore in Mizoram. He emphasized that these initiatives align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for enhancing the Northeast through continuous development and better connectivity.

Upon his arrival at Lengpui airport, Scindia expressed that these projects would significantly aid in the region's growth and advancement.

During his visit to Tuivamit, located on the western outskirts of Aizawl, he inaugurated the Aizawl Institute of Arts and Music dedicated to the Northeastern Region and virtually laid the groundwork for nine projects valued at around ₹350 crore, alongside Chief Minister Lalduhoma.

Additionally, Scindia revealed that Aizawl is set to host the Northeast Bankers’ Conclave on Tuesday, following the previous event held in Agartala.

This conclave, taking place at Mizoram University, aims to enhance credit access in the region and stimulate investment by facilitating loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs.

He noted that investments amounting to nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore were pledged to the Northeast during the Northeast Investors’ Conclave in 2025, with a significant portion allocated to Mizoram.

Organized in collaboration with the Department of Financial Services, the bankers’ conclave aims to convert the region's investment potential into increased economic activity by improving access to institutional credit.

Scindia remarked, “This deepening effort will result in greater economic potential and GDP growth across all eight states.”

He highlighted the importance of supporting infrastructure, particularly roads and connectivity improvements, which are integral to the projects being implemented in the state.

Officials indicated that Scindia is expected to attend the Northeast Bankers’ Conclave before departing for Delhi on Tuesday.
