Imphal, June 13: The United Naga Council (UNC) has presented a list of demands to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the cancellation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant factions and calling for strict measures against the Kuki National Front-President (KNF-P) following the alleged abduction and murder of six Naga civilians in Manipur.

In a memorandum dated June 12, submitted via the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, the UNC expressed profound sorrow over the recovery of the remains of six hostages on June 10, which has deeply affected the families of the victims and the broader Naga community.

Among the primary requests, the UNC demanded the immediate termination of the SoO agreement with all Kuki militant groups. They also called for the arrest and prosecution of KNF-P members implicated in the abduction of 18 civilians and the subsequent killing of six.

Furthermore, the council insisted that the KNF-P be classified as a terrorist organization and sought legal action against all individuals connected to the incident.

The memorandum also requested the dismissal of Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, citing concerns over internal security due to her ties with KNF-P President Semtinthang alias Thangboi Kipgen.

Signed by UNC President Ng. Lorho and General Secretary Vareiyo Shatsang, copies of the memorandum were also sent to Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and the Ministry of Home Affairs Advisor for the Northeast, Ajit Lal.

Additionally, the memorandum called for the arrest and prosecution of those involved in the killing of Wilson Thanga Chiru at Joujangtek on May 13.

The UNC also demanded action against Lalboi Vaiphei, the village chief of Leilon Vaiphei, and other villagers, including women, whom they accused of participating in the abduction and murder of the civilians.

They further called for the arrest of Thanggilian Vaiphei, identified as a serving member of the Manipur Police, alleging his involvement in the case.

The council claimed that the six civilians were part of a group of 18 Naga villagers, including two pastors, who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, 2026, by KNF-P militants and local residents.

It was alleged that the six victims were later killed, with their bodies found in a dismembered state.

Referring to the release of 14 Kuki detainees by Naga village guards on June 9, the council noted that the Naga community had anticipated a reciprocal humanitarian act. However, the discovery of the six bodies the next day only intensified mistrust and tensions.

The UNC announced that the families of the six victims would not accept the remains until their demands were met and justice was served.

As of the time of this report, the Union Government, the KNF-P, and the individuals mentioned in the memorandum had not responded to the allegations.
