New Delhi, May 20: In light of the recent Assembly election victories by the BJP-led NDA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to convene a meeting of the Union government's council of ministers on May 21.

This will be the first council meeting of the year, with attendance expected from all Cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charge, and other ministers.

Sources indicate that the agenda will likely cover the performance of various ministries, recent key decisions, their impacts, and the government's future policy direction.

Additionally, the meeting will review the execution of significant government schemes, focusing on enhancing delivery systems and maximizing public benefits.

Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to address the ongoing crisis in West Asia and its potential economic repercussions for India.

It has been suggested that ministries may be directed to implement measures aimed at minimizing public inconvenience and mitigating impacts on crucial economic sectors.

Key sectors such as energy, agriculture, fertilizers, aviation, shipping, and logistics are expected to be prioritized during discussions.

Following the escalation of the West Asia conflict, Modi had previously instructed relevant departments to take necessary actions to alleviate challenges faced by citizens and affected industries.

The meeting will also likely cover the government's extensive reform agenda across various sectors, aimed at enhancing governance and public welfare.

Previously, the Prime Minister had highlighted reform priorities for the upcoming decade, emphasizing that his government's 'Reform Express' has led to systemic changes benefiting the general populace.

This council meeting is particularly significant following the BJP's robust performance in the recent Assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam, as well as the NDA's return to power in Puducherry.

While Modi has regularly held full council meetings to discuss governance and policy, the upcoming session carries additional political weight due to recent electoral successes and speculation surrounding a potential Cabinet reshuffle.
