Patna, Aug 17: Prashant Kishor, the leader of Jan Suraaj, has officially taken the oath as the new Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Bankipur constituency.

The oath was administered by Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar in his office, enabling Kishor to engage in legislative activities and fulfill his duties as an elected official.

Accompanied by senior party leaders and supporters, Kishor arrived at the Assembly to mark this significant occasion.

The by-election for Bankipur took place on July 30, with the results declared on August 3.

Kishor secured victory over BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha by a margin of 19,246 votes, while the RJD candidate finished third and forfeited their security deposit.

Due to the Assembly not being in session, the oath was taken in the Speaker's chamber.

The monsoon session has concluded, and the winter session is yet to commence, allowing the Speaker to administer the oath to newly elected members individually.

Following his win in Bankipur, Kishor assured constituents that they would witness tangible improvements within two to three months.

He emphasized key areas of focus, including employment, education, ration distribution, and social security.

Among his major pledges is the creation of 10,000 job opportunities in the private sector for the youth.

Kishor also aims to facilitate access to private education for children and enhance the ration-card system within three months.

Additionally, he proposed a monthly pension of Rs 1,100 for individuals aged 60 and above.

Beyond his immediate responsibilities in Bankipur, Kishor is strategizing for future elections, including the Teacher and Graduate constituency Legislative Council elections and Panchayat elections in Bihar.

He is also planning a statewide tour to further extend the reach of Jan Suraaj.

With his oath-taking, Kishor has transitioned from campaigning to focusing on legislative duties and constituency engagement.
