Kanhaiya Kumar Faces Backlash Over Old Video

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar has found himself at the center of controversy once again. An old video of him has resurfaced, igniting anger within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This footage, reportedly from an event in Bongaigaon, Assam, features Kumar delivering a speech on April 5, where he claims that all thieves have joined the BJP, and that the leader of these thieves is none other than Jay Shah's father. In response, the BJP accused Kumar of labeling the people of Gujarat as uneducated and ignorant. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala stated that this remark reflects Congress's anti-Gujarat sentiment.

Timing of the Video's Release Raises Eyebrows

Interestingly, this video emerged after the elections in Assam had concluded. It has gone viral on social media, with many linking it to the people of Gujarat. The BJP has alleged that Kumar and other Congress leaders are disrespecting the citizens of Gujarat. Previously, BJP had also criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his comments, which led to an apology from him.

What Did Kanhaiya Kumar Say?

In the viral video, Kanhaiya Kumar stated, 'If this were just about changing the government, we wouldn't be contesting with such vigor. This election is about preserving the Ahom culture. We say this because the entire syndicate is cutting down mountains, stealing sand, and mining illegally, with rampant corruption and looting everywhere. All the thieves have gathered in the BJP, and their leader is Jay Shah's father, whose name you know, right?'

Further Remarks by Kumar

He continued, 'When we arrived, a journalist mentioned the issue of infiltrators. We told him that the biggest infiltrator came from Gujarat. Himanta Biswa Sarma needs to be sent away along with him. Our district and village people work here, yet we assert that the resources here belong to the people of Assam.'

BJP's Strong Response

In retaliation to Kumar's statements, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala remarked, 'The Congress party has become synonymous with disrespecting the public and the people of Gujarat. We have seen Kharge label North Indians and Gujaratis as uneducated and ignorant, only to later feign an apology. Now, Kanhaiya Kumar, part of Rahul Gandhi's circle, also insults the people of Gujarat and Assam, calling them infiltrators.'

BJP Shares Video Clip

The BJP shared a segment of Kumar's speech, stating, 'For Congress, infiltrators seem like their own, while those working tirelessly to develop and make the nation self-reliant appear foreign to them. Uneducated, ignorant, and now infiltrators—Congress is dividing Indians for a handful of votes.'
