Intensifying Political Battle in West Bengal Ahead of Elections
Political Tensions Rise in West Bengal
The electoral contest in West Bengal is heating up as the first phase of voting approaches in just ten days. Daily exchanges between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are becoming increasingly fierce. Recently, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah stated that the people of West Bengal will respond to violence with their votes, aiming to establish a 'double-engine' government. He warned that TMC goons should remain at home on election day, or they risk being jailed after May 4. Shah also accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of attempting to intimidate the state's majority community.
Promises of Safety and Governance
Reiterating the BJP's campaign promises, Shah assured that once the BJP is in power, women will feel secure, and corruption will be eradicated. He expressed confidence that after touring the entire state, he could affirm that Mamata Banerjee's government is on its way out.
Women’s Safety and Corruption Issues
Addressing the issue of women's safety, Shah remarked, 'Mamata Di says women shouldn't go out after 7 PM. If you elect a BJP government, we will create a Bengal where even at 1 AM, young girls can ride their scooters without fear. Incidents like those at Message Khali, RG Kar, Durgapur Law College, or South Kolkata Law College will not happen. The rampant corruption in schemes, recruitment, transfers, and illegal mining is orchestrated by Mamata Banerjee and her nephew. The BJP is committed to eliminating this corruption and syndicate influence after May 5.'
Accusations Against TMC
Shah accused the TMC government of fostering a culture of corruption, stating, 'Under BJP rule, there will be no political violence. The TMC operates on three principles: extortion, dictatorship, and appeasement. To end this corruption and syndicate control, elect a BJP government, and we will take action against these syndicates.'
Warning to TMC
Issuing a stern warning to the TMC, Shah emphasized that this election is crucial for expelling infiltrators from the state and the country. He noted that the Election Commission has deployed sufficient central forces to ensure free and fair elections. He cautioned TMC goons to stay home on election day, or they would face imprisonment after May 4.
Comments on UCC
Discussing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Shah stated, 'The BJP has decided to implement UCC, which will put an end to multiple marriages. We will also provide the seventh pay commission to all government employees, deposit ₹3,000 monthly into the accounts of sisters, and offer ₹21,000 to pregnant mothers. Unemployed youth in the state will receive ₹3,000 each month.'
Looking Ahead
He concluded by asserting, 'A new government will be formed in Bengal on May 5. I have traveled across the state and can confidently say that the BJP will take charge. The people of Bengal have decided to bid farewell to Didi.'
