YEIDA Seeks Construction Plans to Boost Industrial Growth Near Noida Airport
YEIDA's Initiative for Industrial Development
In a new effort to promote industrial growth around the Noida International Airport, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has called upon more than 1,200 industrial allottees, residential plot owners, and lease deed holders to submit their comprehensive construction plans.
This initiative aims to enhance industrialization in the Yamuna Expressway region, which has seen sluggish development despite significant land allocations to both domestic and international firms.
However, representatives from the entrepreneurial community have expressed concerns, arguing that requesting construction timelines from plot owners without first establishing essential infrastructure is impractical. R K Singh, the CEO of YEIDA, emphasized that the goal is not to pressure companies but to foster communication, understand their difficulties, and tackle the reasons behind construction delays. He stated, 'It is crucial for the authority to identify the obstacles hindering progress to ensure timely development.'
To date, YEIDA has allocated over 3,041 industrial plots, finalized lease agreements with approximately 1,836 units, and granted possession to around 1,235. Additionally, YEIDA has registered at least 10,000 plots, yet construction activity remains minimal.
Rishabh Nigam, president of the Yamuna Expressway Udyam Sangh, remarked, 'It is unreasonable to request construction plans or flow charts from plot owners without providing fundamental amenities such as drainage, water supply, roads, and sewage systems. YEIDA should prioritize establishing the necessary infrastructure before encouraging plot owners to begin construction and secure functional certificates.'
