Wipro Emphasizes AI Investments at 80th AGM
Wipro's Focus on AI Development
During its 80th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Wipro, a leading player in the Information Technology sector, underscored its ongoing commitment to enhancing its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, platforms, and workforce. The company's management noted that a significant portion of their employees has undergone advanced AI training, and they are introducing new roles such as Functional Data Analysts (FDAs).
Regarding the influence of AI on business operations, the management stated, "AI has enabled us to reduce planning activities that previously took a month to just five days." Additionally, Wipro has successfully shortened its monthly financial closing process from 24 hours to just eight hours.
Wipro's Chairman, Rishad Premji, emphasized that IT service firms possess extensive experience in understanding their clients' business processes and operational environments. This expertise positions them favorably to utilize AI for system transformation and value extraction. He further highlighted that AI not only enhances efficiency but also opens up new avenues for innovation and growth, particularly as businesses seek to integrate AI into their operations beyond initial pilot projects.
For the fiscal year 2026, Wipro reported a 14% increase in IT services bookings, totaling $16.4 billion, with large deal bookings reaching $7.8 billion. The company also improved its operating margin to 17.2%.
