Greater Noida, Aug 17: The Uttar Pradesh Police initiated an investigation on Monday regarding the spread of misleading videos depicting waterlogging at Noida International Airport amid recent heavy rainfall. A case has been registered against a Facebook account named ‘Sach Bolo’ following a complaint from the airport's management.
As Delhi-NCR experienced significant rainfall, several videos claiming to show water accumulation at the newly constructed airport emerged, illustrating water pooling in the corridor linking the terminal to the parking area, which caused considerable inconvenience for travelers.
The airport authorities have asserted that the circulated video is false and misrepresents the actual conditions. They indicated that the misleading footage has been shared widely on social media, leading many to misunderstand the airport's true situation.
In their complaint, the airport management expressed concerns that the spread of such false information could severely inconvenience passengers and potentially harm the reputation of Noida International Airport.
Highlighting the importance of the airport as a key public infrastructure project, the management has requested an investigation into the malicious content shared online and called for appropriate legal measures.
The police are currently examining the origins of the alleged video, its authenticity, and the context of its distribution.
Furthermore, efforts are being made to uncover the motives behind the creation or sharing of the video and whether it was intended to portray a misleading image of the airport.
The Jewar police are expected to conduct a technical analysis of the social media accounts involved and the viral video, while also reviewing available digital evidence.
The waterlogging incident has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticizing the government.
“Will boats now operate at the airport? Wherever there is a BJP government, there is rampant corruption!” Yadav posted on X.
Many users have also raised questions regarding the airport's drainage systems.
