Progress in US-India Trade Relations

The United States has signaled that a preliminary trade agreement with India may soon be finalized, as both countries work to enhance their commercial and technological partnerships. During a statement in Delhi on Thursday, US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, noted that negotiations are advancing well, and an initial agreement is now within reach. "We have an interim trade agreement ready for finalization that will bring prosperity to both nations," Gor stated in Delhi. He expressed optimism that the trade deal could be signed in the upcoming weeks and months.

The ambassador emphasized that the relationship between Washington and New Delhi is entering a new phase of deeper collaboration, especially in areas that drive economic growth, innovation, and strategic technology. Gor highlighted the significant untapped potential in the US-India relationship, which could transform bilateral cooperation in the years ahead. "There is limitless potential to advance US-India relations," he remarked.

He also pointed out that the US increasingly recognizes India as a key player in the global economy and technology landscape, paving the way for more integrated business connections. "There is an opportunity to evolve US-India relations into a more cohesive economic partnership," Gor added.

Technology collaboration was a focal point in the ambassador’s address, with Gor asserting that the partnership between the two democracies is uniquely positioned to capitalize on emerging global opportunities. "No partnership is better positioned than that of India and the US to harness new opportunities, particularly in the technology sector," he stated. He also mentioned that Washington is reviewing its export control policies to facilitate smoother collaboration with India in advanced and strategic technologies.

These remarks come as India and the US are enhancing their cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor production, digital infrastructure, and critical technologies.

India's Role in Pax Silica Highlights US Trust

Gor also mentioned India's participation in Pax Silica, viewing it as a testament to Washington's confidence in India's institutions, governance, and technological prowess. "India's inclusion among the first ten countries to join Pax Silica reflects our trust in this nation, its people, and its technology. We are eager to build on this partnership," he stated. The ambassador further characterized US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s recent visit to India as “substantive,” indicating that both governments are actively engaged on economic, geopolitical, and strategic fronts.
