The case highlights the ongoing financial challenges faced by the businessman.

Supreme Court's Decision on Anil Ambani's Plea

In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court of India has turned down Anil Ambani's request for relief regarding a Bombay High Court decision that permitted banks to classify his loan account as fraudulent. The Bombay High Court had previously authorized two banks, including Indian Overseas Bank, to proceed with this classification. This ruling overturned a December 2025 order from a single-judge bench that had provided temporary relief to Ambani.

A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant emphasized that the Division Bench's ruling from the Bombay High Court would not interfere with an ongoing civil suit awaiting resolution. The Court urged the High Court to expedite the case's proceedings. It stated, “The Division Bench order shall not affect the merits of the pending suit. We request the Bombay High Court to prioritize this civil suit for a swift resolution. Should the petitioner (Anil Ambani) have any other legal remedies, he is free to pursue them. Regarding the petitioner’s intention to negotiate with the banks, we refrain from commenting,” as reported.
