Enhancing Bilateral Relations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently engaged in a series of strategic discussions with key French business leaders in Paris, aimed at bolstering economic relations between India and France. These meetings are part of India's broader initiative to enhance collaboration with France across various sectors, including technology, innovation, manufacturing, and investment. The Prime Minister's visit is anticipated to further solidify the growing partnership between the two nations, emphasizing business cooperation and advancements in technology.
During his time in Paris, PM Modi is conversing with influential figures from the French corporate world to identify new investment opportunities, foster industrial collaboration, and establish long-term economic ties. The partnership between India and France has increasingly focused on sectors such as technology, defense, clean energy, and innovation, making economic cooperation a cornerstone of their bilateral relationship.
These discussions with French industry leaders are expected to pave the way for deeper business partnerships and stimulate greater involvement in India's rapidly expanding economy. A significant highlight of the visit will be PM Modi's participation in VivaTech 2026, Europe's largest gathering for startups and technology, where he will join French President Emmanuel Macron.
At the summit, PM Modi is set to lead several important engagements before delivering a highly anticipated keynote address. This speech is expected to highlight India's swiftly growing digital economy, technological advancements, and vibrant startup ecosystem.
PM Modi at G7 Summit
In addition, the Prime Minister recently addressed the Outreach Session on "Reviving a Balanced, Shared and Sustainable Economic Growth for All" at the G7 Summit in Evian, France. He praised the Summit's emphasis on sustainable growth, noting that, especially in times of global uncertainty, the message of sustainable development would resonate worldwide. PM Modi emphasized that growth should transcend mere GDP or trade figures, focusing instead on its genuine impact on inclusion and the well-being of individuals.
He underscored India's inclusive growth narrative, rooted in the principles of "Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas." This approach also informs India's international engagements, as evidenced by its G20 presidency motto, "One Earth, One Family, One Future." Furthermore, he mentioned that this philosophy guided the development of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), aimed at strengthening supply chains, creating job opportunities, and fostering innovation.
Highlighting the adverse effects of crises and conflicts on the Global South, PM Modi called for international solidarity to alleviate these challenges. He proposed that international financial institutions should create support mechanisms to enhance economic resilience in developing nations. Additionally, he advocated for connectivity projects linking Africa, Latin America, and Pacific Island countries, similar to the IMEC initiative. To achieve this vision, he suggested establishing an International Mobilisation Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade (IMPACT), combining G7 capital, Indian talent, and the ownership of the Global South.
