New Delhi, Sep 16: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026, aiming to enhance India's role in the global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing landscape, as stated in an official announcement.

This three-day event, taking place from September 17 to 19, is being organized in collaboration with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI, a global association for the semiconductor design and manufacturing sector.

Under the theme "Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem", this event is timely for India's semiconductor initiatives, supported by robust policies, increased industry involvement, and a rising global demand for diverse and resilient supply chains.

SEMICON India 2026 is anticipated to attract semiconductor firms, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, academic institutions, and industry leaders from around the globe. The exhibition will feature over 600 exhibitors, including approximately 300 international companies, across 15,000 square meters of display space, with more than 150 speakers slated to participate in various conference sessions.

The exhibition will showcase six country pavilions and 12 state government pavilions, along with dedicated platforms that emphasize startups, innovation, student engagement, workforce development, and women's involvement in the semiconductor industry. About 40 startups will present their technologies at the Startup Pavilion, while the Workforce Development Pavilion will concentrate on talent enhancement, skill-building, and career prospects in microelectronics.

A highlight of this year's event will be the 'Sand to Silicon to Systems' Value Chain Experience, which aims to give attendees a comprehensive view of the semiconductor ecosystem, covering everything from raw materials and manufacturing equipment to chip fabrication, advanced packaging, chip design, electronics, and systems.

The event will also feature a startup pitch competition, a student hackathon, and an innovation showcase, offering platforms for emerging entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to unveil innovative ideas and technologies.

The conference will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, and strategic sessions addressing semiconductor manufacturing, artificial intelligence, supply-chain resilience, advanced packaging, materials and equipment, chip design, research and development, innovation, and talent cultivation.

Additionally, six international country roundtables are planned to encourage collaboration and potential partnerships, with dedicated sessions focusing on women's leadership, workforce development, and cooperation among industry associations to bolster the growth of India's electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector.
