ChatGPT Experiences Widespread Technical Issues

New Delhi: OpenAI's popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, encountered significant technical difficulties on Saturday, impacting users worldwide. Reports indicated that over 1,500 individuals faced issues accessing the platform.

By approximately 3 PM, Downdetector noted 1,535 reports of problems, highlighting a widespread outage affecting ChatGPT services.

The outage tracker revealed that around 80% of users experienced issues with ChatGPT itself, while 8% faced challenges with the mobile application, and another 8% reported API disruptions.

Users from various regions, including the United States, Europe, India, Japan, and Australia, reported being unable to log in, submit prompts, or retrieve their chat histories.

The technical difficulties began shortly before the surge in reports on Downdetector, indicating a global impact.

OpenAI confirmed the outage on its status page, stating that they were actively investigating the situation.

"We are currently experiencing issues," the company acknowledged, adding that they had implemented mitigation measures and were monitoring the recovery process.

Users reported a variety of connectivity problems affecting both the ChatGPT website and mobile app, impacting both free and paid subscribers.

Common issues included failed logins, authentication errors, chat histories not loading, unexpected sign-outs, and service unavailability messages when submitting prompts.

Many users took to social media platform X to express their frustrations, reporting being stuck on loading screens or unable to access previous conversations.

Despite the widespread disruption, OpenAI has not revealed the cause of the outage or provided an estimated timeline for service restoration.

This latest incident follows a previous major outage that affected ChatGPT, Codex, and API services, which took nearly 24 hours to resolve.
